Our name is a nod to the Texas wildcatters and the search that led to Spindletop. It captures the attitude we want to bring to AI: a willingness to explore uncertain ground, follow a promising idea, and find out what’s there.

The search
We’re interested in how machine learning systems behave in practice: what they make possible, where they surprise us, and what happens when they become part of the systems around us. Our aim is to turn those observations into questions we can test, and let what we find guide the next step.
